YOU ARE THE IMMORTAL BODY OF JESUS,
THE CITY OF
By Dan Luehrs
The immortals are coming and you are one of them if you are found faithful. You might be asking what I mean by the immortals. These are the ones who have overcome the last enemy (death and sin); they have become like Jesus and have an endless life to rule and reign on the earth with Him forever. These will be known as the immortals ones to those who live one earth; this is the body of Christ, the city of God in flesh and bones for all mankind to see of God’s goodness and glory through out the ages. Does this excite you? Then read on to your future in Christ.
“He found first his own brother Simon, and said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which translated means Christ)” (John 1:41 NAS)
If I were to ask the average Christian who or what the Messiah is, they would say, Jesus. But if I were to ask a Jewish person they would say, “The deliverer!” Both being right in their primary answer, yet not having the full picture or revelation of Who or what the Messiah all entails.
Jews have been looking for their Messiah for thousands of years to come and set
up his kingdom and to deliver them from all their enemies. The only problem
with that is, their Messiah would die just as the judges and kings of old did
and then the next generation would turn from the Lord and become reprobate
before Him. On the other hand Jesus came and lived a perfect life and gave it
for the sins of all people to deliver them from not only hell, but the power of
sin and the fear of death in their daily lives. The
THE ANOINTED ONE
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are downtrodden, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord” (Luke 4:18-19 NAS).
The word Christ or Messiah simply means, “The anointed one.” The Holy Spirit is symbolized as the anointing oil or the power behind Jesus’ life of good works and miracles that changed the lives of people everywhere. Most God seeking and Bible reading Christians know this, but what most do not know is that they are also called the anointed ones, that’s why we are called Christian’s or Christ-ones, messiah’s, and deliverers of mankind to bring the gospel of the kingdom and His healing to the nations.
The devil has kept the church in such darkness as to who and what they are in Christ and what He is in them. When we begin to stand up in faith and power we will see the authority of the Lord revealed through His body, which we are! Jesus is the Anointed one, but where is Jesus? He is inside of every believer making them part of the body of the Anointed one-the Christ.
ONENESS OF THE BODY
“For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:12-13 NAS).
We as the body of Christ must come together as one in the faith if we are to reach the world. The apostles were in one accord on the day of Pentecost when the Spirit of God was poured out in great measure and if we are looking for the outpouring of the Spirit we too must be in one accord to see the greater outpourings that He has for this generation. Jesus prayed that we would be one and we will be because He prayed this prayer in the will of God and it will be fulfilled in its time and I believe that to be right now! How else will the glory of the Lord fall upon the church, how else will we come into unity without His glory?
THE CHRIST MUST SUFFER
“But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation” (Luke 17:25 NAS).
I could give you many other verses on biblical suffering, we are called to walk in His steps and His steps will include trials and tribulations in our life. There is no way around them, if He suffered, so must we! “Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and to enter into His glory” (Luke 24:26 NAS)? If we are called the body of Christ we are sharers in this name called (Christ) and must be rejected of this generation and suffer with Him. When we have suffered the fires of life they will then come through our character in the maturity of Christ. If you chose not to suffer for and with Him may I suggest you find something else to follow that you are willing to suffer for. Many people suffer for riches, fame, and worldly success only to lay it down when they die, but not so with Christ, our sufferings will produce a weight of glory that we will have for eternity.
YOU ARE THE CITY OF
“… Come here, I shall show you the
bride, the wife of the Lamb. And he carried me away in the Spirit to a
great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city,
Not only are we called to be the body of Christ, we are called to be the city-temple of God that will one day come down from heaven to earth in such glory there will be no words to describe her beauty. “For here we do not have a lasting city, but we are seeking the city which is to come” (Hebrews 13:14 NAS). Just as Abraham was looking for a city whose maker and builder is God, so are we, but we are becoming the city of God that He is making out of living stones that will form His spiritual habitation throughout eternity. “In whom the whole building, being fitted together is growing into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit” (Ephesians 2:21-22 NAS). God has a number of people that will make up this body-temple-city, whether it is one billion or two, I do not know. All I know is that when He is finished making them into the image of Christ she will have the glory of God and come down from heaven to earth.
the Bible says that God is building a city we automatically think of natural
buildings made of stone and steel, but God is building a city made of people
that are alive. People that will be immortal like Himself which will last for
eternity and never fall into sin or corruption. The interesting part of our
calling is that we do not have to wait till we get to heaven to be a part of this
city because when we come to Christ we have citizenship in the holy city. “But you have come to
SHARER’S OF THE CITY
“And if anyone takes anything away from the words in the book of this prophecy, God will take away “his share” in the Tree of Life and the holy city, as described in this book” (Rev 22:19 CJB).
“How blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they have “the right” to eat from the Tree of Life and go through the gates into the city” (Rev 22:14-15 CJB)!
If you were to buy some shares of a company in the stock market you would own part of that company, you are then what is called a (share holder). The same is true of God; we are sharers of the Holy Spirit because He has been given to us as a down payment of our inheritance in Christ. And what we do with our share of Him now will determine how much our share is in the inheritance of Christ that we will have in the New Jerusalem and our share in the tree of life where all of God’s life flows from. “But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift” (Ephesians 4:7 NAS). To measure something out is the same as giving a share to each person just as Jesus shared His gift with the church so that we would all together make the whole of who He is. Not one person has all the gifts, but we the body of Christ make up the whole of who He is so that He can minister through the body and make us His habitation of the throne for eternity.
If we use our shares wisely as the five wise virgins did to gain more oil (the likeness of Christ) we will be as the man given five talents (shares) and doubled what he had and the master was please with his labors and gave him more. Too long has the church looked at the outward physical outcome of our lives and what we have done or become, rather than our likeness and character in Jesus. Really only God can measure us correctly, but yet in each person’s life we can see if they have the peace of God in the midst of the storm, which is a true measurement of Christ. We must stop judging people after the flesh and the world’s standard rather than the true standard of Christ. We all have an inheritance in Christ that He is going to share with us if we prove faithful to the end. His inheritance was to sit on His Father’s throne and He said that He would share this authority with us. “He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne” (Revelation 3:21 NAS).

JESUS, THE CORNERSTONE OF THE CITY
“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens (sharers) with the saints, and are of God's household, having been built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together is growing into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit” (Eph 2:19-22 NAS).
whole kingdom and city rests upon the truth of Jesus Christ and the apostle’s
teachings. The apostle’s built nothing in the natural world and only left us
their writings, yet the Bible tells us that the whole
“And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and burst against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded upon the rock. “And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does not act upon them, will be like a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand” (Matthew 7:25-26 NAS).
big is your house? People seem to desire to live in big homes rather than
something modest that my family grew up in. Some how they feel more important
and respectable when they drive into their garage if their home is large and
the yard is green and beautiful. One day I was looking at one of these nice
homes and the Lord spoke to me and said, “They are cathedrals made unto their
own greatness and status.” I was reminded how the kings in
“According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building upon it. But let each man be careful how he builds upon it. For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man builds upon the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it, because it is to be revealed with fire; and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work. If any man's work which he has built upon it remains, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work is burned up, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved, yet so as through fire” (1 Cor 3:10-15 NAS).
According to Jesus we all are building a house, a spiritual house on the inside of each one of us, only the trials of life will prove what each of us has been building with His word (spiritual truth), rather than with wood, hay, or stubble (worldly knowledge). Great tribulation is about to rock this earth with the collapse of all major financial markets around the world and we will soon see who has been building upon the word of the Lord or the words of the world. What kind of shape is your spiritual house that houses the presence of Jesus Christ, are you building daily with the word and prayer while waiting on Him? If not, your house is in bad shape and you are making Jesus live in a pig sty of your own thoughts mixed with the thoughts and media of the world. Please read the verse below and build your life accordingly while there is still time.
“For this is contained in Scripture:
"Behold I lay in
When everything is shaking in the world we will not have to be because we have been built upon the truth of Christ (our foundation) which will not be moved. The truth of Him in us can never be moved! “Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe” (Hebrews 12:28 NAS).
CHRIST HIGHER THAN THE HEAVENS
“He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill (cover) all things” (Ephesians 4:10 NAS).
“Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession” (Hebrews 4:14 NAS).
“For it was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens” (Hebrews 7:26 NAS).
Just as Jesus passed through the created heavens and earth to sit in the throne realm, so will His body, the church do likewise. The church, the bride, the sons of God rise above all of God’s other creation for His has made us a little lower than Himself. The throne is the authority of God which rules over all and was not a part of the original creation, this makes the church the highest created purpose of God. From the very beginning God made man to rule and reign with His power and glory, but after the fall man lost his place of authority in the heavenlies and the earths authority went to Satan. Jesus has now taken all that back from the enemy for us to learn how to rule and reign through His power within us. Each one of us is now learning how to walk in the realm of the spirit and to take authority over the powers that would try to rule over us as he did Adam and Eve. We must have spiritual wisdom and vision to get this right so that we too can rule in the throne realm which covers all the realms of God.
“And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name” (Phil 2:8-9 NAS).
The Father is no respecter of persons; if He did it for one He will do it for another. We are promised in Scripture that if we will humble ourselves as Jesus did by carrying our own cross we too will be exulted above and sit with Him in His throne and be given a new name. We will not be given a place above Jesus, but given a place by Jesus because we will have entered in to His inheritance which is above all the created heavens. How amazing is that?

I close this chapter out I must show you that there are two cities or two

about this city was about them, not God, and how great they were in building
unto themselves. It was not about ascending to seek God or knowing the God of
the heavens, but they wanted to reach into the heavens through religion and occult
practices rather than obeying a holy God. The world, the flesh, and religion
are still working the same thing today in man, trying to build bigger and
better than the next company, home, or church building. It is all about us and
how greater we can be over the other guy. This is nothing but the flesh and God
will do away with everything that He has not planted or built by Him. We

I urge you by the mercies of God to get right with Him and to stand upon His firm foundation, dwelling in the heavens with Him which is the solid rock that cannot be moved. Time is running short and the last battle has begun with the devil bringing great wrath upon the inhabitance of the earth.
“For this reason, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them. Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has only a short time” (Revelation 12:12 NAS).
