WHEN GODS SHEKINAH WALKS THE EARTH

By Dan Luehrs

I heard a loud voice from the throne say, “See! God’s Sh’khinah is with mankind, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and he himself, God-with-them, will be their God. Rev 21:3 (CJB)

We are entering the most exciting time in all of human history to be alive, when God walks the earth in His manifest presence. What will all this look like? We cannot be for sure about everything, but this we know of; in the book of Revelation 21:4-5, there will be no more tears, death, mourning, crying, or pain for He is making all things new. These verses may seem like a fairytale to many and impossible to come to pass, but even as the impossibility of the resurrection took place so will these words, because our God is faithful to His word. “Also he said, “Write, ‘These words are true and trustworthy!” Rev 21:5 (CJB). In other words, Take it to the bank, these words will be fulfilled in there time!

What will these days or should I say people look like in the day of the Lord, as we are clothed with God’s Shekinah glory even as Adam and Jesus were? We have come into a time where the reaping of all that has been sown will be reaped, for good and evil. We are seeing the evil in people come into the complete likeness of the evil one, also we are going to see people come into the complete likeness of Jesus, manifesting His Shekinah for all to see.

These chosen ones are going to display God’s “Abiding manifest glory,” for that is what Shekinah means. I see a day coming when God’s Shekinah glory will manifest on the overcomers for all to see with the naked eye. Most will run to the Lord and repent of their former lives because of this. The glory will manifest when God wills it to, it could be in an airport, office, church, or a home. Just as the Lord manifested His glory after the resurrection to only five hundred people, it will be to His choosing. He could have shown Himself to the whole of Israel at that time and all would have been saved, but He wants to work through a body of people that are called to be like Him. That is the key! If you are saved from your sin you have the privilege and high calling and to be a part of this great adventure to restore mankind and the world back to God.

A PEOPLE LIKENED UNTO HIM

Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. 1 John 3:2 (NASU)

I know that it’s hard for us who are still living in this frail human body to imagine that we will one day walk in the full likeness of Jesus and abide in His Shekinah glory. Yet the truth of the matter is we already do abide in the glory we just don’t understand it! For instance, we get a good snap shot of this when Israel was abiding around the tabernacle of God’s Shekinah in the wilderness. When the Lord had Moses build the tabernacle in the wilderness it shows us that when we are walking through a desert spiritually speaking, God’s glory is with us. We may be living in a seemingly dry and difficult time, yet there is a glory there that we could not have unless we walked through the desert. The Promised Land lays on the other side of the wilderness experience. Just as most of Israel who started out in the desert died there, so has been the story of the church because most quit following Him in the difficult times. Yet there will be a generation that will not quit and will come into all the promises of God for their life and for the world. The glory was in the wilderness for them at that time, but they did not have to stay there for forty years. Once we learn the blessing of His presence in difficult days we can enjoy the journey until we pass through the wilderness. We are not to stay there forever, but pass through a learning curve, thank God!

For thirteen years of my life I passed through the wilderness of not knowing why God had sent us to Florida to live. There were many excruciating years of not having enough money, people rising up against me, not having any close Christian fellowship, or many ministry opportunities. Yet the Lord’s presence and the revelation of His word was truly glorious in those days of drawing closer to the Lord. No I would not want to go back through the wilderness, but I am very thankful for it even when it seemed as if it would never end or it felt like God was mad at me. These were the days that I got to know myself, and better yet I got to know the Lord more! He promised me that I would know Him more and I did, and I continue growing in Him daily.

We could study the lives of many men in the Bible that had to go through the wilderness to get to their place of destiny. The likes of Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus, and Paul to name a few. Yet this is the very thing that God used to forge these into great men of God. The good thing is, once they got through they never had to go back through the wilderness experience again. We all must learn the lesson on how faithful God is in the midst of our trials of life, there is no quick and easy way of leaning this but through the passage of time. Jesus is the only one that got through the wilderness in forty days having defeated the enemy hands down. It took Moses forty years to learn what he needed. For the rest of us it may take many years to learn and grow, just know that the wilderness is a good and safe place to be in the will of God. I can tell you the quickest way through, is to yield yourself completely to the will of God and praise Him through it no matter what you may be feeling. Also ask God to put someone in your life to mentor you that has already gone through the wilderness and has passed the tests and even better yet have a companion to walk with you through it.

The thing we must know is to seek God’s presence in the midst of all the human emotions. When Israel was in the wilderness God’s presence was right there to protect them from the sun with a cloud of glory by day and a fiery cloud by night to keep them warm. No enemies or wild beasts attacked the people while God’s glory was in their midst. We do not have to fear the wilderness experience, we must only face it with true living faith that God is doing a work in us. That will one day prepare us for our kingdom work for eternity, we must stop agonizing our present circumstances and start rejoicing that God is doing a great work in us for His glory.

THE BLESSED OF GOD

There was a time when God’s Shekinah dwelt in just one home, the home of Obed-edom. For three months God’s presence rested there before David came and took the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. Yet the Bible speaks very well of Obed-edom in 1 Chronicles 26:5 (NASU), “God had indeed blessed him.” Who would not want this spoken over their life? For Obed-edom, God’s presence made the difference that brought God’s blessings many fold to his family to know and serve God.

1 Chronicles 26:6 says about Obed-edom sons, “For they were mighty men of valor.” Verse 8 says, “All these were of the sons of Obed-edom; they and their sons and their relatives were able men with strength for the service, 62 from Obed-edom.” Verse 12, “To these divisions of the gatekeepers, the chief men, were given duties like their relatives to minister in the house of the Lord.” There is no higher call given unto men than to minister unto the Lord. The story does not end there, it gets better! In verse 15 we are told that their lot fell unto them to be gatekeepers over the storehouse in the house of the Lord. I am not sure what all that means today, but it sounds like a pretty important position given by God.

Gatekeepers were also watchmen on the wall. They were trusted officials in the servant role of protecting the Lord’s house, they were stationed at all 4 gates.  They also were appointed and taught others around them to guard the gate as well. Their hearts were fully committed to the Lords will. Today’s gatekeepers pray for revival and encourage others to get ready for the glory of the Lord to come. They also were in charge of the temple and items in the treasuries of the House of the Lord. This is what you and I are called to do if we are people passionate for His presence.

OBED-EDOM THE BLESS MAN OF GOD

Thus the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house three months; and the Lord blessed the family of Obed-edom with all that he had. 1 Chron 13:14 (NASU)

If you will remember the story of Obed-edom, the Ark of the Covenant was taken by the Philistines in war and David wanted to get it back to Jerusalem. So David sent men out with oxen and a new cart to bring it home to him, but that was not God’s prescribed way of doing things with His presence. The oxen stumbled and a man named Uzza reached out and grabbed it and was smitten by the Lord for disrespecting His presence. Because there was only one way to carry the presence of God and that was on the shoulders of men. Nothing has changed today, God’s people are still called to carry the Shekinah of God together in their hearts.

Now David was terrified of the Lord for doing this, so he put the ark of the Lord in the house of Obed-edom for safe keeping until he could figure out how to get it back to Jerusalem. In the meantime Obed-edom’s life is about to change, he and his family are going to become lovers and chasers of God for the rest of their life, for they fell in love with the presence of the Lord. Because they honored His presence, the Lord in turn honored them with blessing his house hold. I believe the same is true today, if we will be seekers of God’s presence because we love Him and love to spend time with Him, He will also honor us with His presence, with more joy, peace, strength, love, and with whatever provisions we may have need of.

David soon heard that Obed-edom’s house was being blessed by the presence of the Lord and he also wanted that blessing in Jerusalem. So he prepare a place for it. “And they brought in the ark of God and placed it inside the tent which David had pitched for it, and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.” 1 Chron 16:1 (NASU). If we want to host the presence of the Lord, we must also prepare our hearts for His abiding presence in our life. Simply we must hunger and ask Him for His presence, then we must forsake anything that might offend Him so that we can make quality time to sit and soak in His perfect love. The more we eat of the Lord the more we need and the more we will want of Him!

Once Obed-edom had the presence of the Lord in his life there was no way that he was not going to run after the Lord. He and his family left their house to follow the glory of the Lord to Jerusalem, now this was a personal thing to him, not just some box in his house. He was now forming a relationship with the Lord and nobody could take that away from him. So he moved, I don’t know if he sold everything that he had or if David blessed him with a place of his own for looking after the ark, but he did follow the presence of God, this we know.

The next time we find Obed-edom name in the scriptures is next to the ark again in Jerusalem. “… Obed-edom and Jehiah also were gatekeepers for the ark.” 1 Chron 15:24 (NASU). And again we read in 1 Chron 16:5, “… Obed-edom and Jeiel, with musical instruments, harps, lyres…” This man could not get enough of God and would not be stopped from seeking the Lord with all his heart. I could see this man singing and dancing before the Lord with David. They were love sick! Obed-edom is little known by the church today, yet he is truly one of the great seekers of God’s presence in all of scripture. I do look forward to meeting this man in glory some day and me thinks I shall find him worshipping on the throne.

As I wrote before, Obed-edom did not go to Jerusalem alone, oh no, he brought 68 of his relatives with him, most of them would be found worshipping before the ark of God’s presence also. “So he left Asaph and his relatives there before the ark of the covenant of the Lord to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required; and Obed-edom with his 68 relatives…” 1 Chron 16:37-38 (NASU)

Hallelujah! This is the story of a man who truly loved God with all his heart and is forever forged into the word of God because he was a man of the Shekinah. What will be written of our life when all is said and done? Are you a seeker of God’s presence or are you satisfied with the just going through the motions of tradition and religion?

A SERVANT OF EDOM

After years of wondering why God would allow His glory to stay in this one house, the house of Obed-edom, I feel I have some revelation as to why. You see Obed-edom’s name means, “Servant of Edom, in other words, servant of the flesh.” You see if we understand this prophetically that Edom’s name is synonymous with the fleshly religious church that wants nothing to do with the moving of the Holy Spirit. In fact they oppose Him greatly to the point of even hindering God’s people when they try to flow with the Spirit of God. The Lord Himself said that He will do away with this type of opposition spirit in the church.

"Will I not on that day," declares the Lord, “Destroy wise men from Edom and understanding from the mountain of Esau?” Obad 1:8 (NASU)

The Edomite’s are the sons of Esau who always oppose the ways of God, He will soon do away with this obstinate spirit in the church through a movement with power. Not through the destruction of a people, but the spirit that is controlling them. The Lord goes on to say in verse 21, “The deliverers will ascend Mount Zion to judge the mountain of Esau, and the kingdom will be the Lord's.” God’s delivers are His judges, the sons of God that ascend into kingdom power and will do away with this religious spirit that is now controlling most churches today. These Edomite’s are going to turn to the Lord in this next great move of God that is soon to break out on the earth. God’s love, mercy and kindness will win over the hardest of hearts.

The story of Obed-edom is soon going to be the story of all people that are in the church and are controlled by a religious spirit to seek the heart of God as Obed-edom did. God’s presence will win them over! In fact they will become some of the most dedicated to seeking the heart of God. They and their relatives are about to get turned on to God like nothing we have ever seen before!

GOD’S SHEKINAH WALKS THE EARTH IN YOU

I heard a loud voice from the throne say, “See! God’s Sh’khinah is with mankind, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and he himself, God-with-them, will be their God. Rev 21:3 (CJB)

What will it look like when God’s Shekinah walks the earth in and through us? Can you see a world without sin, death, poverty, and lack? A place where only righteousness reigns and the whole earth has come into the liberty of the sons of God. This is where the first world of sin and death have passed away and now the kingdom age has come. We are being prepared to rule and reign with Jesus in this new world and the universe forever. This is why we must be tried over and over as gold is, to get out of us all that is not of Him so we can be entrusted with His power and glory.

The good thing about God is, we do not have to wait for the millennium to come to be anointed and used for His purposes, we must find a place now to let His glory shine through us. It’s not just going to happen, we also must find the geographical place in the world where the will of God is for us. We are the carriers of His glory and now is the time to release the Shekinah into the hearts of those He has been preparing.

One day soon the Shekinah glory is going to fall upon His chosen ones that are the first fruits of the harvest. These are the harvesters of the kingdom, the sons of God that will be the seed planters to bring in the great harvest of mankind. “And the field is the world; and as for the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom” Matt 13:38 NASU. I believe if you are reading this, it is because you are called of God to be a part of the great harvest machine that is soon to go through the nation unhindered. Seek Him, seek the Shekinah of God with all your heart!
