GOD’S INTENTION

 FOR YOU

By Dan Luehrs

“To the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 3:10 NKJV).

I wrote an article sometime back entitled, Your Destiny the Throne from Revelation 3:21. In this small article I provided evidence from the Scriptures how God wants to place His people on the throne with Jesus to rule and reign throughout eternity. As grandiose as this may seem for some believers it will not be a picnic for us to overcome all the powers of hell and the flesh that would try to stop us along the way. There is the daily fight of faith that we all must engage in to defeat the enemy of our souls, namely the flesh. One day I ask the Lord what He wanted me to do, He said, “Overcome the flesh!” Sometimes it seems impossible to overcome our fears, lusts, covetousness, and doubts that plague our minds continually. Yet the word of God gives us no excuses, it says we must conquer them to be an overcomer!

If it is our desire to sit in the throne with Jesus we can if we love and served Him with our whole heart. Not for the reason to have power over mankind, but to serve them. We must have the mindset that will overcome anything that the devil tries to put in our path through the power of the Holy Spirit. It may take weeks, months, and years of personally battling the enemy, but we will prevail as we become stronger in Him, for the great Overcomer abides in us. It is God’s will for us that we overcome all the powers of the enemy. God’s original intent for man was to rule and reign over the earth from the very beginning in the book of Genesis, His plans have not changed! “Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth” (Genesis 1:26 NKJV). Very clearly God has spoken His intentions for us, but because of the fall of Adam things have changed from us ruling over the earth, to ruling over our own mind and bodies first, then the earth. Once we have learned and experienced Christ likeness, which is to love, we will then be qualified to sit with Jesus as overcomers. So until we are changed into His character we will continue to go through the refining process of life.

Right now God’s intention is for us to rule over all the powers of the enemy in our life. Jesus Christ has given us authority to rule over all the powers of the enemy, so why are so many Christians not taking their rightful place in Him? “Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall injure you” (Luke 10:19 NAS). We have God’s final authority on the matter to overcome in all the areas of our life.

GOD’S ETERNAL PURPOSE FOR YOU

To the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Ephesians 3:10-11 NKJV).

We understand that God is all knowing and His wisdom is beyond our comprehension, but what is the eternal purpose? God has a ruling body of authority in heaven and earth; Jesus called us the Ekklesia (or the church) which will reign with Him as He originally designed it before the beginning of time. This is God’s eternal purpose! One interpretation of the word church is, “the called out ones,” but this is not the whole meaning of the word. The original Ekklesia is the governing body of the country of Greece. It is a term used for those who are in authority to rule and reign as God has called the church to reign over all the earth and the universe as stated in Daniel 7:27,

“Then the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey Him.”

If you are a person that has given your heart to Jesus Christ your calling is to be a part of the Ekklesia, you are in training for reigning! Now, if this causes you to become prideful you are obviously not ready to reign with Him because only those who have His humility and likeness will rule and reign. Or if the thought of you reigning with Jesus causes you to think that you are unworthy, that is pride because it is false humility when you are looking at yourself rather than what Jesus has done for you. It’s not about you and me or about how great we are in comparison to others; it’s how great He is in us!

His eternal purpose will be accomplished through His people, the question is, will you and I be a part of it? “For many are called, but few are chosen” (Matt 22:14). Only those who overcome will take part in the ruling body in heaven and on earth; that is not to say if we do not overcome all things in our life that we will not get into heaven. We still will get into the pearly gates, but we will not sit in the throne with Jesus, which is the highest calling there is for mankind because we have His likeness. All power and authority flows through Jesus Christ, which means that the Father’s life will flow from Jesus and His bride into all of creation. I don’t know about you but my desire is to be as close to the Father’s heart as He will allow me to be.

We cannot wait until we get to heaven to be close to God, now is the time to seek the Lord, now is that time to get as close to the Father’s heart as possible! Jesus said in Matt 7:22-23, “Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name? And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!” If we do not know Him intimately in our daily prayer life we will not be close to Him in heaven either. Being close to Him now is God’s eternal purpose for you! He is so lovely why would you not want to be as close to Him as possible? Why not seek Him with all your heart, what have you got to lose and look what you have to gain, Christ likeness!

Do you know why God chose Joshua to replace Moses? Because he stayed in the presence of the Lord long after Moses left the tabernacle of meeting. “So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle(Exodus 33:11 NKJV). This was Joshua’s time of preparation for reigning and leadership. And if we think that we are going to reign with Christ because of how smart and educated we are, we are only fooling ourselves! We don’t have to look too far in Scripture to find that God prepares His people in the place of trials and tribulations in His presence.

David was prepared in the presence of the God as he was singing unto the Lord in the desert and was overcoming lions and bears (trials). In fact before he became a warrior in the natural he was overcoming demonic spirits in the wilderness and he too was given power over giants. It all started in his own personal life, and then he was given authority over the enemy in the lives of others. Then one day demons were troubling King Saul and David was summoned to play music for him so that the demons would be driven away. David knew spiritual warfare by getting into the presence of God and so must we if we are going to be the overcomers that He has called us to.

When we study the life of Jesus we see that He would spend all night in prayer with His Father or He would arise early before dawn to seek His face to get direction for that day’s outreaches. If Jesus, Joshua, and David had to get into the presence of the Lord daily does it not make sense that we must also spend time with Him? Not out of obligation, but as a love affair that we cannot wait to be with Him because we love Him and love to spend time in His presence. Then we will have the power to go out and destroy the enemy’s strongholds in God’s power.

WHAT ARE WE TO RULE OVER ANYWAY?

Right now while we are alive in this earth we should be ruling and overcoming the spirit of the world, the flesh, and the devil in our own personal lives. Once we have gained the victory over our enemies we will have qualified to have the authority and likeness of Jesus Christ and then to help others defeat the enemy in their own lives. Authority is not granted any other way than to fight to the victory, the enemy knows this, so he tries to discourage us with the seemingly impossibility of winning. Jesus said in Matthew 11:12, “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.” The enemy is not going to give up ground easily in your life or in the lives of others, but if we persist in the battle we will overcome him because Jesus, the Great Conqueror has never lost a war and as long as we are fighting on His side we shall prevail!

God’s wisdom is about to be revealed from heaven through the church to the principalities and powers over the earth and will out smart them in their own game of deception. God is going to turn the tide; in fact all that the enemy has done will be reversed by the wisdom of God through His church. Even as God used the cross to defeat satan in which he thought he had defeated the Son of God on, God’s wisdom triumphed over him in death. Death is the answer to what is ailing us! The sooner we learn to die to self and sin, the quicker we will win the battle. Ask God to help you die to your sin and self right now, so that you too will be free to reign with Him.

God has enlightened many on fire Christians to go to strategic places in the earth and are overthrowing the demonic powers in the heavenlies through the wisdom of God. These demon spirits have ruled long enough, their time is up because God is beginning to reign through His saints who know who they are in Christ and have authority in the spirit realm. “… Because Thou hast taken Thy great power and hast begun to reign…” (Rev 11:17 NAS). Jesus knew who He was as the Son of God when the devil tempted Him in the wilderness and when Jesus won the victory; He came forth with power and authority to cast the enemy out of other people’s life and so will we!

“Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever” (Rev 11:15 NKJV)!

I truly believe that this verse is now coming to pass as satan is being cast to the earth having great wrath because he knows that his time is short. There are just too many Christians alive today who know who they are in Christ and who He is in them to overcome the enemy. They are ruling over satanic strongholds and breaking their power in Jesus name; they do not fear demons because the power of Christ is supreme in and upon them. The devil does not want us to know who we are in Christ; he wants to keep us ignorant of God’s abiding power and presence in us by keeping us bound up in our own trails and tribulations that we lose sight of our freedom in Christ.

The devils scheme from the very beginning of the church age has been to keep the word of God out of the hands of the common people. Only the hierarchy in the Roman Catholic Church could read it until some renegade Christian’s started to print it in their own language and then the real warfare begun in the Protestant Reformation. Much blood was spilled by the reformers to get the word of God into our hands and we should hold it, read it, and obey it with great thoughtfulness and thankfulness to God and those who paid the ultimate price with their blood.

Religion is the tool of the devil to enslave the masses of people through their ignorance of God’s word. The Lord said in Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Most Christians do not know the word of God because they do not spend time reading and studying it. Why is this? Because they think that it is boring or they are just uninterested in it because they feel that it is not relative to their lives. Imagine for a moment when you get to heaven and your sitting by one of the great reformers that gave his life for the Bible and he turns to ask you how you enjoyed reading the Bible that he put into your language. And you have to say, “I never spent much time reading it.” Now think about standing before a living God who gave one of the most important gifts to mankind to reveal Himself to you.

God wants to have an ongoing close relationship with you which is not a programmed religious ceremony of boredom. God wants to have a vibrant ongoing love affair with you daily and wants you to be as excited as He meets with you everyday in the garden of your heart. This too is God’s intention for you!

WHERE DID DEMON’S COME FROM?

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Eph 6:12-13 NKJV).

We know that God created all things along with all the principalities and powers as it says in Colossians 1:16. I highly doubt that God created the devil to be an evil spirit though, because the word of God says that everything He made was good and there is no darkness in Him at all! So how did angelic spirits become so demented and evil? Many Bible scholars believe that satan was once a archangel named Lucifer meaning “light bearer,” he then fell from his high position over the kingdom of God and was cast down from that place of power because of the iniquities that were found in him (perversions of evil).

"Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor; I cast you to the ground, I laid you before kings, that they might gaze at you. You defiled your sanctuaries by the multitude of your iniquities, by the iniquity of your trading; therefore I brought fire from your midst; it devoured you, and I turned you to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all who saw you”  (Ezekiel 28:17-18 NKJV).

Somehow the devil fell from power and his evil ways were allowed to enter into the Garden of Eden to test God’s new creation made after His own image. There may have been a preadamic world that satan was ruler over until pride and rebellion was found in his heart and he was then cast down and the light that was in him went out. That could be the reason why the earth was formless and void in the day of creation. Nevertheless satan learned his craft of deception somehow and I can guarantee you that God did not teach him how to kill, steel, and destroy the very lives that He created!

I have often thought, “Why do we have to wrestle these demonic powers anyway, why doesn’t God just wipe them all out so that I do not have to deal with them?” Whether we understand it or not these demonic powers are doing us a great favor by opposing us and causing resistance to come against us. These powers are being utilized by God to test us as He did Adam and Eve and are making us into the image of Jesus Christ even as Joseph’s brother’s were used in making him fit for the throne. Demon’s opposed Jesus and He came forth a conqueror spoiling them of all their powers and authority. The wisdom of God outsmarted them in the cross through the weakness and suffering of the flesh. This is how God will overthrow all the powers of the enemy if we will just trust Him in our times of suffering and not to become confused or discouraged by them. God’s wisdom will overthrow these demonic powers in the heavenlies through the church, so get ready for the spirit of wisdom to anoint you for victory in every area of life! This too is God’s intention for you!

POSSESSING THE SEVEN SPIRITS OF GOD

“The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,

The Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord” (Isaiah 11:2 NKJV).

Jesus overcame the devil in His lifetime on earth through the seven spirits of God which come from the throne of God (See Revelation 4:5). He was totally reliant upon the Holy Spirit’s leading and power to manifest the perfect wisdom of the triune God and could not been out witted or deceived by the devil’s cunning ways. Jesus had His spiritual eyes opened (having spiritual wisdom) to see how the Spirit of God would lead Him and was able to see the workings of the devil. Even though Jesus was and is God in the form a human being He still was dependent upon the Holy Spirit’s power to manifest through Him. This is how He overcame the devil and the entire evil horde which would attack Him on a daily basis, I am sure of it.

The church today is in great need of the Holy Spirit’s wisdom to fill us as He did Jesus so that we do not succumb to this present evil age, but prevail over it. We must live in the likeness of the four faces of the living creatures that are before the throne if we are to win in this fight of faith. “… And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in the back. The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle.  The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within…” (Revelation 4:6-8 NKJV). It is interesting that when John saw these living creatures he noted twice in these verses that they were full of eyes. I do not believe that they had real physical eyes all around their bodies, but is typology, meaning rather that they had the seven spirits of God which were before the throne. They had the spirit of understanding and could see clearly all that God and the devil were doing in the spirit realm. Their four faces give us clarity as to what they are: a lion, a calf, a man, an eagle.

The first face was like a lion representing the spirit of the fear of God. Why is that? Because that is what a lion causes his prey to do when he roars, fear! I don’t know about you but if I saw a lion coming at me the first thing I would do is freeze in total fear.

The second face was like a calf representing the spirit of might or strength to see our final victory completed over the power of the flesh.  Zechariah 4:6 says, “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.” The Lord spoke this to Zerubbabel when it looked like the temple could not be finished in Jerusalem because the enemies of God fought against them so fearsomely. But in the end God’s people were victorious and so will we in building the temple of the Lord, His body.

The third face was that of a man, which represents the spirit of knowledge. Man was made in the image of God and is much more knowledgeable than any other thing made of dust.

The fourth face was that of an eagle representing the spirit of the Lord because the very name of the eagle means “to fly like the wind.” We know that the Spirit of God is likened to the wind as He came on the day of Pentecost in a mighty wind.

The living creatures were and are around the throne which Jesus sits on; this also represents the spirit of counsel working in and through them to rule justly and righteously. Very clearly we can see the seven spirits of God working through the living creatures who are a type of what we are called to be; we also are called to sit on the throne with Jesus throughout eternity because of their impartation in us.

Please read Paul’s prayer below carefully and see how he intercedes for us to have the seven spirits of God. The spirit of wisdom, the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened (understanding), that you may know what is the hope of His calling (counsel), the exceeding greatness of His power (might). I am adding the Spirit of the Lord here because we cannot have any of these without Him, nor can we have the spirit of wisdom without the fear of God. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom…” (Prov 9:10NKJV). So if we ever think that we will accomplish the will of God in our life without the seven spirits of God we are greatly mistaken. We need this prayer as a daily part of our devotions so that we will begin to understand the mysteries of God. He will teach us His ways through His Spirit and the word.

“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened (understanding); that you may know what is the hope of His calling (knowledge), what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power (might) toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come” (Eph 1:17-21 NKJV).

Simply put, the living creatures are the manifestation of the seven spirits of God on the throne. They are called “living creatures” because they are the embodiment of God’s life and Spirit in mankind upon the throne in human form. How do I know this? Because they sing the song of the redeemed and by the blood of the Lamb they are upon the throne (see Revelation 5:8-10). As we are seated in the heavenlies with Jesus we are far above all principalities and powers as the seven spirits of God manifest through us. No longer must we cave into the lies of the enemy telling us that we are nothing in this world and in the kingdom of God, for we are more than victorious through Jesus Christ our Lord. This is God’s intention for you!
